Troubleshooting

Occasionally while using the program, you may run into some things that seem a bit off.
Is the program running slowly?
Are you unable to save things?
Why isn’t this email sending?
I can’t log in!

How to Clear Your Browser’s Cache

We recommend clearing your internet browser’s cache after every update (or at least twice a month) to delete any old data your browser may be holding onto.

The way the cache works is this: As your browse through different websites, your browser collects little pieces of data and cookies in it’s cache so when you go back to that website it remembers certain things about the page, and thereby makes the page load more quickly and more intuitively for you as a user.

However, sometimes this browser setting can backfire. Take for example when a website releases an update to certain features. Your browser is expecting the website to do A, B, and C functions, but now the website is telling your browser to show you E, G, and F functions. This can cause the website to act erratically, throw errors, and have the speed of a snail- and nobody likes that.

Pop-up Blocked

When using Total Party Planner, you will need to disable your pop-up blocker to allow for reports to generate. To do this:

Internet Explorer

Launch Internet Explorer.
Click the gear icon in the top right corner of the screen and select Internet Options.

Navigate to the Privacy tab and select the Settings button.

This will launch the Pop-Up Blocker Settings window. Add the website listed below to the list of Allowed sites.

Firefox

Load the Firefox browser.
Click the icon with the three horizontal bars in the top right of the screen and choose the Options link.

This will open the Options window. Click the Content tab in this window and select the Exceptions button.

Add the web address listed below to the list of allowed sites.

Chrome

Open the Chrome browser.
Click the icon with the three horizontal bars in the top right corner of the screen and navigate to Settings.

This will open the Settings in a new tab. Scroll down until you see Privacy and click the Content Settings… button.

Scroll down until you get to the Pop-ups section. Click Manage Exceptions and add Total Party Planner to the list of allowed sites.

Safari

Choose the gear icon at the right edge of the browser window.

Un-check the Block Pop-Up Windows option in the drop down menu.

Screen Size

If you experience problems with button or field names appearing garbled or everything is too large to fit on the screen, follow the following troubleshooting options:1. Check that your desktop font setting is set to Small Fonts:

  • Right click anywhere on your windows desktop.
  • Click the Properties option.
  • Click the Settings tab.
  • Click the Advanced button.
  • Change the DPI Setting: option to Normal size (96 DPI).

Check your browser text size settings:

  • Firefox
    • Right-click on an empty section of the Tab Strip, select “Customize” and the Customize Toolbar window will open.
    • In the Customize Toolbar window, click and drag the “Zoom Controls” toolbar item to the desired place on one of your toolbars.
    • Click Done to save the changes to your toolbars. Two new magnifying glass icons will be added to your toolbar, one with a plus (+) and one with a minus (-).
    • You can now use the + magnifying glass icon on the customized toolbar to zoom in, and the  magnifying glass icon on the customized toolbar to zoom out.
  • Firefox
    • Click the wrench icon on the browser toolbar.
    • Select Settings.
    • Click Show advanced settings.
    • In the “Web Content” section, use the “Font size” drop-down menu to make adjustments.
  • Safari
    • Click on the ‘Safari’ heading and choose ‘Preferences’ from the pull down menu.
    • Click on the heading labeled ‘Appearance.’
    • Choose the ‘Select’ button to the right of the option ‘Standard Font.’
    • Choose the font size you want by clicking on the correct number in the ‘Sizes’ column.
    • Choose the ‘Select’ button to the right of the option ‘Fixed-width font’ and adjust the font size in the same manner.
    • Close the ‘Fonts’ window and begin browsing with the adjusted font size.
