Transaction Response Codes
This is a list of common Transaction Response Codes and their meanings.
1020 – Processor Decline
Fullsteam received a Decline response from the processor.
This means the card issuer has declined to process the transaction without a specific reason provided.
Card holder may call the card issuer for more information.
1023 – Processor Duplicate
Fullsteam received a Duplicate response from the processor.
This means the processor has determined the transaction is a duplicate by their rules and the API request to Fullsteam did not disable duplicate detection.
Currently, the processor defines a duplicate as a transaction for the same amount on the same card for the same merchant within the same batch within 25 transactions of the matching transaction.
2002 – Processor Host Error
Fullsteam received a Host Error from the processor.
This means the card issuer experienced an error trying to process the transaction request.
It is possible that the card holder will see an open authorization if they view their card statement online after this error. However, the transaction has been voided and will not settle.
We advise Catering Clients to verify their Business Information is filled out properly under Administration > Business Info
2009 – Processor Error
Fullsteam received an Error response from the Processor. This means the processor or the card issuer experienced an error attempting to process the request and the transaction request was not processed.
Issuer Response Codes
05 – Generic Authorization Decline
This transaction response could be caused by a number of reasons, including:
- Possible fraud suspicion
- Insufficient Funds
- Card is inactive or expired
…and many more.
The best option is to suggest another method of payment or have your client reach out to their bank to determine why the card was declined.
30 – Format Error
The format of the payment information submitted may be incorrect.
For example: An American Express card you have to submit the 4-digit Card Verification Value (CVV) on the front of the card, not the 3-digit Card Security Code (CSC).
51 – Insufficient Funds
Customer’s card issuer has declined a transaction because there are insufficient funds in the account
61 – Exceeds Withdrawal Limit
The client’s card issuer has an imposed transaction limit (either daily or per transaction) that is preventing approval.
This limit is in place for security and to control spending.
The cardholder can try using a different card or contacting their bank to see if they can extend their limit
82 – Invalid CVV
The customer’s card issuer declined the transaction because the CVV (Card Verification Value) was incorrect when submitted.
This is the 3 digit code found on the back of Visa, Mastercard and Discover credit cards.
This is the 4 digit code found on the back of American Express credit cards.
